Westhype
How it works
Both CLEM variants use the same clever mechanism:
- CLEM works like a clamp lamp: Using a clever screw/clamp mechanism, it can be attached to tabletops, shelves, or windowsills up to 38 mm thick without the need for drilling or gluing.
- CLEM_candle: slim candle holder (approx. 30 cm total height, Ø 3 cm) for standard household candles with a diameter of 25 mm.
- CLEM_flower: vase with a removable glass insert for easy cleaning.
- The highlight: You can transform existing furniture into a spot for light or flowers in no time – space-saving, stable, and reversible.
This is how you turn existing pieces of furniture into a place for light or flowers in seconds – space-saving, stable, and removable at any time without leaving any residue.
Material and production
CLEM is made of tubular steel with a fine-textured powder coating, available in up to 15 colors – from classic pure white to reseda, navy, scarlet, or maroon. The fine structure of the coating gives the metal a pleasant feel.
History / Inspiration
- CLEM is part of the ADAPT edition by purSTAHL, whose guiding principle is: "unadapted adaptability" – products that add value to existing furniture, integrate into living spaces, or adapt to changing life situations instead of requiring you to buy new furniture.
- The brand motto of purSTAHL is "Metal. Form. Simple. New." – the idea: good, useful design does not have to be expensive and should adapt to the reality of life for free-thinking people.
- The tagline for CLEM is "…just add some" – you simply "clamp" a candle or flower onto a piece of furniture you already own.
- By name, CLEM alludes to "clamping" (Anklemmen) – the inspiration is clearly drawn from the principle of the classic clamp lamp, only repurposed for decoration instead of light (or, in the case of CLEM_candle, back to light again, just with a real candle).
The people behind it
CLEM is manufactured in the Sauerland, the "Land of 1,000 Hills," in the family business of Christina and Guido Bronold. CLEM was designed by Berlin-based designer Michael Hilgers, who, as a close design partner, helps shape the vision of purSTAHL: a future-oriented, sustainable brand for useful, simple design products.
