What does BPA mean in relation to products?

BPA stands for Bisphenol A.

This is a chemical compound that is primarily used as a base material for plastics and resins.

Why is BPA controversial?

BPA belongs to the group of so-called endocrine disruptors – substances that can act like hormones in the body. It is suspected of:

  • to influence the hormonal balance (especially the estrogen system),

  • to impair fertility ,

  • increasing the risk of metabolic diseases such as diabetes or obesity,

  • negatively affecting the development of fetuses and infants .

That's why BPA has been restricted or banned in many areas, such as baby bottles in the EU. Westhype does not offer any products containing BPA.
